5 JOB ROLES IN THE FILM INDUSTRY I WOULD LIKE TO DO MYSELF
1.Director: The director is like the backbone of any filming operation, they guide actors and actresses to fulfil certain roles in any kind of acting scenario. A good director can make a film look amazing even with bad context. Skilled directors bring out the best in their actors/actresses conveying many messages through movements among context. The reason I would like to take on this role is because I had a small taste of it when Nabeel was making a music video for his song. I took on the role of Director from the moment we started filming and enjoyed the feelings from having someone act out something you are visioning.
2.Screenwriter: A screenwriter is someone who writes context for any acting scenario, they fill in the gap on acting with words for viewers to understand. A good screenwriter can fill in bland visuals with great text. Sometimes words can convey emotions more than actions and that is where great writers thrive. I would like to do this role as I think it is fascinating what words can do to people they can create so many emotions with such little effort. “The pen is mightier than the sword”.
3.Stuntperformer: A stunt man is someone who does crazy sounds and actions that many actors/actresses feel uncomfortable doing or simply cannot. The stuntman is someone who does the crazy action sequences and stunts that make our jaws drop.
The reason I would like to do this as I all ways have respected stunt performers for the amount of courage and skill they have when it comes to their job. I feel like I could do these stunts as I enjoy having a huge rush of adrenaline and relish at the idea of creating some kind of huge action sequence.
4.Marketing: A market assistant is someone who helps promote a film by thinking of ways to get the movie out there through any kind of media from TV adverts to billboards or poster, cards pamphlets, online video adverts or broadband promotions.
5.Set designer: A set disagree is someone who creates a world around an actor/actress they are in charge of changing the sets environment. The reason I would like to do set design is because I would enjoy helping create a really in depth set.

Two Job Roles I'd Like To
DIRECTOR

Director: A director is like the backbone of a filming operation, their job is do direct actors and actresses to fulfil a acting role that has usually been written down or mapped out already. Skilled directors though are not just someone who tell actors/actresses what to do, on the contrary a skilled director with vision lets their actors and actresses have freedom in order to try and bring out the very best in them.
Skills needed: First of all communication is a key quality for a director to have when it comes to organisation on a film set. The director is the direct link between a screenplay and the actors/actresses so they need to make sure they can clearly convey acting direction from the paper onto the big screen to help translate words and sounds through movement. Vision is important to have when is comes to directing great scenes. It is a leader quality which is good considering that the director literally has to lead people to do certain things. Vision comes clear through a screen, camera operators obviously get props for filming but usually a director has also directed that camera operator along with a actor/actress to fulfil and capture a role/shot.
Why I want to do it: I have always liked the idea of someone behind the cameras like a puppet master pulling the strings or like a conductor to a orchestra. I had a taste of what directing is like when Nabeel needed someone to film his music video and direct it. I took on the role of directing straight away after reading his song, I enjoyed having a vision for the video then seeing it come through at the end and looking really good.
“I’m like a symphony conductor and the audience my orchestra. I want them to ooh, aah, laugh, cry, clap, scream when I say so” - Quentin Tarantino
“When people ask me if I went to film school I tell them, no, I went to films.” - Quentin Tarantino
How Directing effects Screenwriting: Directing and screenwriter are both dependant of each other if one was push the other would be pull. If a Director is not doing his or her job in a good manner that helps the screenwriter or does not pull his or her weight it will look bad on the screenwriter as context will not flow through accordingly.

First of all I pride my self on team working skills, I've always been able to work in teams and have very good give and give relationships in teams. As well as working well in teams I am extremely capable of taking a leading role and directing people to do certain roles. I am a very driven person and motivated person which reflects well when you can spread that to other people. As well as personal strengths that refect my character I am more than capable of using standard industry equipment from cameras to audio kit's and lighting kits ect.
A weakness of mine is being a perfectionist, I sometimes get caught up on the smaller minute detailes which can cause me to loose focus of the bigger picture. That being said I think identifying this and working around it translates to a strength.
UWE have a filmmaking course that I am interested in, this course allows students to work in teams to on projects that are tansferable to the real world and working in the industry. In these projects I'll be able to work as a director, directing people to do different rolse and their own ect.
Threats would be not joining the course due to not getting the grades needed. The only other way to do this would be to direct my own work and push that out myself.

SCREENWRITER

Screenwriting: A screenwriter is someone who writes out a script for a scene, they fill in the gaps of acting with context for people to hear. Screenwriters in my mind have a harder role than people think as sometimes they are given a time slot where text needs to fit in. It can be a challenge to get the right amount of text in sometimes.
Skills needed: Straight away a good skill for a screenwriter would be the ability to write clearly and fluently with out basic errors like spelling or punctuation. Even if the writing does go through a assessor it says a lot about yourself and your approach to a professional job role. A good skill for a screenwriter would be the ability to let emotion convey through words. For instant when you have boring bland text that you cannot really draw anything from it and it makes for a bad project and sets the tone for the rest of it.
Why I want to do it: I am fascinated by how words can effect us and how they can draw emotion from us. There are many quotes like “Words cut deeper than knives. A knife can be pulled out, words are embedded into our souls.” “The pen is mightier than the sword.” These sayings ring true and always will because they are so true. Filling a filming project from horror to comedy, action to drama the context is always extremely important because it fills in that gap of acting where the words are one on one with the viewer.
"The pen is mightier than the sword"
"Words cut deeper than knives. A knive can be pulled out, words are embedded into our soul.s"
How Screenwriting effects Directing: Screenwriting effects directing in much the same way that directing effects screenwriting. If a competant screenwriter makes the script for movie and is paired with a director who cannot tranfer what has been written onto the screen it creates a tense situation for both parties. The reason it goes both ways is if there is a competant director who is capable of tranfering text to visuals but has a sloppy screenwriter it'll make their job harder than it needs to be.

As mentioned above UWE have a filmmaking course that I am interested with, though they ue alot of group projects where I will be able to lend my writting hand they also do personal projects where I will be able to write my own personal writting for projects.
Again a the main threat for this is not joining the course due to not getting grades. The only way I'd be able to persue writting is if I join another course or get in contact with people and organizations that can produce my writtig.
My Production Roles Within a team
Busking In Bristol: Georgia Brown
My personal role in this project: In this video my role was that of directing and screen play. As this was a documentary I did not have sotryboard persay to follow nor a script as I wanted to meet someone on a whim busking a interview them, that being said I did have a narrative I wanted to follow. With having a narrative I needed to direct those who were helping me for example directing someone on how I wanted a particular shot to look and why. As well as screen play It was my job to control how the narrative structure progressed visualy as well as the audio
Working in the job sector- Bristol business fair
My personal role in this project: In this project I took more of a back seat role compared to the project above. In this project my role was that of camera operator and audio levels. My job was to film the job's fair as it was happening, observing everyone from a distance as well as getting up close and personal with some engagments. For the interview aspect of the video my role was to film the subject of the video as well as keeping an eye on audio level as they came through the subjects mic. In comparison both roles this one and the one above were to do with similar subjects, there was a narrative and structure to both pieces. The only difference is the one above I took a lead role and spear headed the project where as the second one I did my specific role to contribute the the spear heading.
