NO.1) NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN (MOVIE SCRIPT)

ANALYSIS

A) Style

- The script is written in a film format.

B) Content

- The script contains the dialogue that will be used in the movie. As well as character dialogue the script contains written descriptions of scenery and locations that will too be used in the movie. The dialogue in the script that will be used for the movie is aimed at older viewers (15 years and above) therefore there are dark themes throughout the script especially murder and death in general. The dialogue in many parts of the movie is rather dark, cold and somewhat scary and this is done with a remorseless attempt and the story of No country For Old Men is a dark, cold, scary and remorseless one.

C) Narrative Structure

- The narrative structure of No Country For Old Men is in the form of a story for film. The narrative is carried through the script in the form of a story to be portrayed on film. The story follows 2 protagonists though neither can be put above another as they are both crucial to the story and share roughly the same time. There is one antagonist, the story is rather linear though there is a wrench thrown into the works in the last third of the script. There is not a lot of character development in the story, apart from one character Sheriff Ed Tom Bell who in my opinion is there man who embodies the meaning "No Country For Old Men".

D) Genre

- The genre for No Country For Old Men is crime/drama, this is made aware by the heavy use of violence and death used in the script.

E) Target Audience

- The target audience for No Country For Old Men is aimed at people around 30-40 years old (though it is 'suitable' for anyone above the age of fifteen) I say this because of the characters in the script are older men from their 40's to 60's. The themes in the story are very morbid as well and go above your average action film which might appeal to younger adults.

NO.2) THE WOLF OF WALL STREET (MOVIE SCRIPT)

ANALYSIS

A) Style

- The script is written for a movie. The script came from the book The Wolf Of Wall Street.

B) Content

- The script contains the character dialogue as well as the descriptions of locations and scenery as well as the situations. The dialogue and descriptive text is very heavy through out the script, this is due to the amount of narrating by the lead character Jordan Belfort as well as other dialogue and descriptive text.

C) Narrative Structure

- The narrative structure for The Wolf Of Wall Street is constructed from the auto biography by Jordan Belfort 'The Wolf Of Wall Street'. The script is very text heavy as throughout the intended movie there is a lot of narrating by Jordan Belfort as well as dialogue for the conversations that take place between characters as well as other dialogue, descriptive dialogue and scene descriptive text.

D) Genre

- The genre for the script of The Wolf Of Wall Street is Drama film/Biography.

E) Target Audience

- The target audience for this movie are men who would relate or want to be Jordan Belfort, so young men in their late teens to mid to late 20's. I base this on the excessive and rampageous lifestyle of Jordon Belfort more aligned with younger people, specifically males than older people.

NO.3) PEAKY BLINDERS (TV SCRIPT)

ANALYSIS

A) Style

The script is written in a style suitable for TV production.

B) Content

The Script contains character dialogue and descriptive text describing the location and immediate surroundings of the characters.

C) Narrative Structure

The narrative structure is built around the Shelby family. mainly Thomas Shelby. From the inciting incident (crates of guns being found) we follow the Shelby (crime) family through there endeavours. A junction in the narrative structure of the Shelby family would be the introduction of Detective Campbell, a man sent to retrieve the guns and incidentally put an end to crime operations in the city. If not for his introduction the Shelby family would have no quarrels with the law and would be free to do as they please.

D) Genre

The Genre for the Peaky Blinders Script is Drama/Period Drama.

E) Target Audience

The target audience for this show would be older male teens, 18+ to men in their 40's. The reason. The reason I give this such a broad target audience is because the story of the Peaky Blinders is a story of crime, excitement, danger, lies and deceit which makes for a very entertaining show for younger men. At the same time it is also a period drama which is why I can easily see the majority of the viewers being 30+. It is set in a time period where the wounds of WW1 are still fresh and this plays into the story.

Competent script idea via the clients brief

Script idea: We started of brainstorming what kind of special effect element into the film and all decided a dream sequence would be the best choice for that. Knowing we wanted a dream sequence we could already see aesthetically what the visuals would look like. Knowing we wanted somekind of dream sequence and what it would look like we needed to think about a narrative which we could make a 5 minute film for as well as allow a dream sequence to happen.

For the narrative structure we thought of something that could bounce of the dream sequence well, so for that we had to we decided on the subject or ambition of the character and landed with Football and from that we decided the character of our film would be a younger man around 19-21 who wanted to play football for his favourite Bristol City. Unfortunatly he is stuck in the solitude of a boring monotonous job.

He dreams of playing football and living his dream though more and more these thoughts take over his thought proccess till it starts to impact his work life.

Original script draft

Feeback from pitch

Feeback to build on: Create a more complete idea of what kind of special effects we want to be using as well as research the special effects we want to use.

Create a character profile in order to get a clear understanding of our lead character (what job they have, who they live with, their hobbies and desires ECT).

Dreamer

(Short Film Script)

This is the script for my film Dreamer. The script contains dialogue for characters, descriptive text for scenes and camera movement.

Changes made based on feeback from pitch

Based of the feeback from the pitch the final script is alot more heavy with descriptive writte, for example the SPX used are described in a way where the reader can easily understand what will be happening/used in that scene. The text is also alot more heavy on how Vince on the actions Vince takes as well as facial expressions to convey emotions as Vince does not say a word in the film. In the treatment we also added a relevent summary of vincent entailing the information that would be relevant upon request such as Vince's job, who he lives with, what job he does ect.
